Man, those things are just so awesome. The sound is so epic...

And that guy is crazy for driving that without the roof up in that rain, I don't even want to know how much that messed up the Alcantara and electronics in there...

He is indeed. Let's hope nothing was ruined.

I think I need a hardtop convertible in my life.

I support this.

Now I just need Porsche to do another Boxster Spyder variant (or I pick up an old one). Ferrari's are something I'll look to in my 30's. Porsche for now.

Sounds good to me. However, didn't the Boxster Spyder have a fabric roof?

You are 100% correct, however it is the only sub-$100K convertible I like. I would take it over the new gen Cayman any day.

Ah. I see. Have you ever driven a 987?

Sadly, no. It's an odd reality when I am already $10K into saving for one. I have never driven any Porsche for that matter.

Ample seat time in an F430, Gallardo Spyder, GT-R, Camaro 1LE, M3, AMG SL55, Z4M and of course 33K miles in my FR-S. Don't know any friendly owners and no random luck yet.

Well, even if you end up not liking it (highly unlikely), then you can just apply the money you have already saved to another car.

Quite an impressive list. Which have you enjoyed the most so far?

True, it was always a dream to own a Porsche for a few years (at least). I would like to pick a lesser known variant like the Cayman R or Boxster Spyder, gives it a bigger sense of occasion.

Out of all the cars I have driven, I think the F430 (also spyder) and the Z4M most truly capture what a sports car ought to be. Agile, planted with snappy shifts and great exhaust note. I'm rather fond of seeing the hips in the side view mirrors as well. Each car definitely has a unique perspective and approach that I can appreciate, however some cars provide more joy than others.

I envisioned picking up a used GT-R for a while, but it truly is not as enjoyable at 40-60mph as other cars. Its a car that you need to take faster and faster to experience that initial rush. I do like it's obscure nature and machine attitude, no need to detail it weekly!

I can understand that.

From your descriptions, I think you would love the GT3, especially the 997s.

The GT-R is quite a unique vehicle but definitely nowhere near as exciting as the others you have mentioned. However, like I tell everyone else, choose the car that fits you best, not the one that everyone else claims is the best.

Agreed the GT3 would be a dream. I'll have to see where my finances are at when I start looking next winter. A GT3 could be in the stretch budget, more likely to seek out a Boxster Spyder or Cayman GTS to test drive.

I'm sure whatever you end of deciding on will be terrific.

On a serious note is it bad to park cars like this outside in the rain, even with the top up (or even if coupe)?

Can too much water in the air vents over the engine be an issue? Do you drive your RMR cars in heavy rain?

As long as it isn't flooding, your car will be fine. All of the vents are designed to direct water away from vital areas.

I drive my 12c in every weather condition unless I know I will be going through high standing water.

very cool. I'm glad you're getting so much use out of the 12C
